‚Tis the season???

Dear Readers,

Even in a very quiet year, the holidays show up faster than ever.  With Thanksgiving this week, I know the next time I look around we’ll be ringing in the new year.

Because I can’t resist making procrastinators moan, I’m going to announce I’ve not only finished my holiday shopping, but this weekend started the wrapping process. And got a jump start on decorating. Oh, and my Christmas cards are ready to mail out next week.

Go ahead and moan. You know you want to!

But to backtrack some….our fall continued as careful as the rest of 2021, but I did manage to grab onto a little of the normal with a trip to NYC in October.  Since Griffin (who turned 3 in October!) is still too young to be vaccinated, we relied on room service and food delivery for meals and planned our outings to avoid crowds.

Kayla and I took on midtown Manhattan (and a quick Uber downtown) to outfit her in some work clothes for a new part-time gig at Pac-Sun, her college activities, as well as her larger role in our family foundation. Fun! Outfitting a long, lanky college sophomore is nothing but fun for this nana.

We divvied the days up into blocks and set out, masked and vaccinated, to some favorite stores and some new ones as well.  I shared the trip on the blog, and you can read more about it here.

The Becoming is out!

Once home, I fully dove into my current work in progress: The Choice, book 3 in The Dragon Heart Legacy.  No details at this time since I’m still deep in writing. My Christmas wish is to have it completed before Santa comes, but that’s going to be close. I have pies to bake and a turkey to roast,  a tree to decorate (didn’t get that far yet) and more presents to wrap.

You can catch up with Breen and Marco in The Becoming, book 2 in the trilogy, which hits shelves today.

When the book opens, Breen has just returned to Talamh with Marco (did you really think I’d leave him in Philadelphia???).  Marco is dazzled and disoriented by this realm–a place filled with dragons and faeries and mermaids (but no WiFi, to his chagrin). In Talamh, Breen is not the lifelong friend he knows.  Here she is learning to embrace the powers of her true identity. Marco is welcomed kindly by her people–and by Keegan, leader of the Fey. Keegan has trained Breen as a warrior, and his yearning for her has grown along with his admiration of her strength and skills.

But one member of Breen’s bloodline is not there to embrace her. Her grandfather, the outcast god Odran, plots to destroy Talamh–and now all must unite to defeat his dark forces. There will be losses and sorrows, betrayal and bloodshed. But through it, Breen Siobhan Kelly will take the next step to becoming her true self.

Holiday shopping at TTP

I’ll sorely miss another Holiday in Boonsboro signing, but the store is just too small to host hundreds of people safely.  You can purchase a signed copy of The Becoming from Turn the Page Bookstore, as well as a wide variety of best sellers and gifts. Turn the Page has decked the halls and shares daily holiday deals on their Facebook and Instagram pages – I’ll admit to purchasing a few of those holiday items myself.  While I’m talking about holiday gifts, don’t forget to visit the Gifts Inn BoonsBoro website for charming, one-of-a-kind presents.

What’s new in ’22?

In our annual tradition, I’m pleased to present the 2022 publication schedule so you can plan ahead:

Abandoned in Death excerpt

Finally, here’s a little gift of the excerpt from Abandoned in Death – out February 8, 2022.  More about that in the next newsletter.

Before I get back to work, I’d like to wish you a safe, healthy and happy holiday season.  Here’s to a 2022 filled with events and adventures we can share with friends and family.
